Who we are

Gradient is a free iPad app made by Murat Cakmak. This policy explains what data Gradient handles. For questions, write to support@ruminate-ai.com.

Data that stays on your iPad

Gradient stores your reading progress, quiz results, review cards, learning plan and settings on your iPad. We do not receive this data.

Gradient needs no account. Every story, figure and quiz is in the app, so lessons work offline.

Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is the default AI engine. It runs on your iPad and sends nothing to us or to anyone else. It needs an iPad that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings.

Gradient Cloud (optional)

Gradient Cloud is off by default. You turn it on in Settings > AI engine, after a consent screen. You can use Gradient without it.

When Gradient Cloud is on, the app sends the question or answer text and the related lesson section to our server at gradient-api.ruminate-ai.com. This server is a Cloudflare Worker. It forwards the data to a model server we run, and it returns the answer to the app.

The Worker does not log the text of requests. The model server can keep request text in its logs for a limited time, to fix problems. We use it for nothing else. We do not share it or sell it.

Daily limits and the install token

Gradient Cloud has daily limits for each install: 40 tutor messages, 15 teach-back grades and 10 narrations.

An anonymous install token counts your use. The token holds no personal data, and we do not link it to you.

To enforce the daily limits, the Worker keeps a keyed hash (HMAC) of your network address for one day. It does not keep the address itself.

Hosting provider

Cloudflare hosts the Worker and this website. Cloudflare processes the traffic as our hosting provider.

This website sets no cookies and loads no scripts or resources from other sites.

Analytics, tracking and sale of data

Gradient has no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDKs. We do not sell data.

Children

Gradient is for general audiences. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app deletes the data on your iPad. Gradient has no in-app reset. To start over, delete the app and install it again.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the effective date at the top of this page.
